Pros and cons of diagnosing lung disease early

When you come for your Lung Health Check, we may offer you a CT scan to look for any changes in your lungs that might need treatment. The CT scan will tell us if you have any early signs of lung disease like lung cancer. Checking for cancer in this way is called screening. You may have heard of screening for other types of cancer like breast, cervical or bowel cancer. For all types of cancer screening, there are benefits, such as treatment that might cure the cancer, but there are also some downsides. When you come for your Lung Health Check, we will explain these to you to help you make up your mind about whether you would like to have a scan.
