Selecting a time and date for a new appointment

From 14 July 2026, patients in select clinics* can pick a time and date for their appointment that suits them. From 14 July 2026, in several clinics, you will be offered a selection of appointment date and time slots to choose from – giving you more control over your appointments than ever before.

Instead of waiting for an appointment letter or phone call, you will now be able to select a suitable appointment from a list of available times in the MyMFT app.

How it works:

  1. You will receive a notification letting you know it’s time to book your appointment. Depending on your preferences, this will be sent by email or in the MyMFT app.
  2. Sign in to MyMFT using the app or web portal.
  3. Go to “Your Updates”, find the appointment update, and select “Schedule Now”.
  4. Choose an available time from the available options.
    • Important: Some clinics offer appointments at different MFT hospital sites. Please check the name of the site when selecting your appointment time.
  5. A pre-confirmation page will appear for you to check the details of your visit, as well as providing instructions to follow before attending. Here, you can also provide any details that you would like to discuss at your appointment.
  6. If you are happy with the details, select “Book It” to confirm your appointment. You will then see a confirmation scree with your appointment details.

*These new appointment options are currently available in a range of clinics in the following outpatient areas:

  • Ophthalmology (excluding Macular)
  • Dietetics
  • Occupational Therapy
  • Speech and Language Therapy (excluding Paediatric Speech and Language)
  • Physiotherapy (excluding Pelvic Health, Hand Therapy, MSK Orthopaedic Assessment Service, and Cardiac Rehab).

You have an existing appointment and you are offered a new time slot

Sometimes earlier appointments become available, for example if another patient cancels their appointment. Through Fast Pass you may be offered the opportunity to bring your appointment forward to a new time. Here’s how it works:

  • When a new appointment slot becomes available, if you’re eligible you will be notified (by email, SMS or in MyMFT) of the new time and date.
  • You can then choose to:
    • Accept the offer in MyMFT and move your existing appointment to the new time and date
    • Decline or ignore the offer in MyMFT and keep your current appointment slot

Important

  • Fast Pass appointment offers are available for a limited time
  • These appointments will be provided on a ‘first-come, first-served’ basis.
  • Once a patient has accepted the appointment, it will no longer be available to other patients to accept.
