The annual National Play in Hospital Week event is organised by the National Association of Health Play Specialists (NAHPS) and supported by Starlight Children’s Foundation.
Patients, families and staff gathered in the foyer at the Children’s Hospital on Monday to hear speeches from Deputy Director of Nursing Michelle Milner, Hospital Therapeutic and Specialised Play Service Manager Susan Fairclough, Penelope Hart-Spencer, Chair of NAHPS and CEO of Starlight Children’s Foundation Cathy Gilman on the importance of play in the treatment of sick children. This was followed by a host of children’s entertainment including super hero dancers, face painters, and performances from Magic Makers, Pets as Therapy and the RMCH Charity Mascot Humphrey Bear.
