Biography

Peter Clayton is Professor of Child Health at the University of Manchester. He has been an honorary consultant at RMCH since 1994.

Along with the adult endocrine team at MRI, he established transition services in the early 1990s for young people with lifelong endocrine conditions. He was also instrumental in bringing the highly specialised Congenital Hyperinsulinism service to RMCH in the mid 2000s.

He has represented the North West on the NHSE Paediatric Medicine Clinical Reference Group since 2012.

His research interests are centred on understanding mechanisms leading to disordered growth.

He has held leading roles in UK, European and International Paediatric Endocrine Societies.
