The Manchester Centre for Plastic Surgery and Burns, based at MFT, provides specialist care to the whole of Greater Manchester.
We are the main hospital in the North West of England for complex surgical reconstruction for patients who have suffered severe burns. We also specialise in a wide range of highly skilled, planned and emergency plastic surgery procedures.
Plastic surgery is arguably the medical specialty with the widest range of sub-specialties within it. Most areas of medicine ‘own’ a particular tissue or part of the body. For example, Orthopaedics deals specifically with bones and Dermatology with skin. Our patients have a vast range of medical issues affecting almost every part of the body, ranging from severe burns to cleft palates to excess skin following dramatic weight loss. Our ethos is to combine problem solving with our specialist knowledge of working with body tissues to find the best way to reconstruct parts of the body in each unique case.
The centre delivers the full range of specialist burns and plastics services to adults and children. Our consultants also hold weekly clinics at Withington Community Hospital for removal of potential skin cancers.

Location
The main Adult Plastic Surgery ward, F1, and the Children’s Ward, F8, are located in the Green route. The Burns Centre is based in the Acute Block in the Purple route. The majority of our clinics and operating takes place in the Treatment and Diagnostic Centre, located in the Yellow route.
