Cardiac Rehabilitation is a structured programme of care and support from hospital admission to return of daily life. When a person has a cardiac event or undergoes heart surgery cardiac rehabilitation can be a vital route back to living as full life as possible. The aim of the service is to support and educate patients to understand their individual risk factors and to influence favourably the underlying cause of cardiovascular disease and support patients in maintaining healthy lifestyle. Cardiac Rehabilitation is proven to reduce hospital readmissions, it reduces the chance of a patient having another cardiac event and it is highly cast effective.

The MRI Cardiac Rehabilitation service is made up of a multidisciplinary team of highly skilled specialist nurses, physiotherapists, occupational therapists and Rehabilitation assistants.

To ensure optimum patient outcomes are achieved The British Association of Cardiac Rehabilitation (BACPR) have introduced a national certification process with the aim of ensuring cardiac rehabilitation programmes meet high quality evidenced based standards. Our cardiac Rehabilitation team here at the MRI were among only 20% of programmes nationally to achieve the required standard for certification (2018) contributing towards the MFT value of being the best we can be.
