Why do I need to stop my dizziness medication before an appointment?
We ask you to stop taking any dizziness medication for 36 hours prior to your appointment as sometimes certain medications can affect the reliability of our results.
Why can't I wear eye make-up to the appointment?
During the appointment you may be asked to wear a pair of goggles with a camera that tracks your eye movements. If eye make up is worn the camera can find it difficult to track your eye movements accurately meaning that the results will not be reliable.
Why does the appointment last 60 minutes?
We will ask you lots of questions about your dizziness and then will continue with a series of tests and this can take up to 60 minutes.
Why can't I drive home after the appointment?
Sometimes the tests that we do may make you feel unsteady for a short period of time and so we advise that you do not drive home from your appointment. It may be appropriate to bring a family member or friend with you to the appointment to drive you home.
Should I still come to my appointment if my balance is fine on the day?
With some balance problems it is possible that your balance is fine one day but is not so good the following day. Even if your balance seems fine on the day of the appointment it is important that you attend as we can still find out lots of useful information.
