Biography
Professor Cervellione is the Clinical Lead for the Department, and is nationally commissioned to provide, together with his colleagues, the Bladder Exstrophy Service in Manchester. It is one of the largest exstrophy centres worldwide.
He has helped the improvement of the treatment of the exstrophy complex in the British Islands with the introductions of new strategies of treatment following his 12 months clinical fellowship at John’s Hopkins Hospital in 2009 working alongside Prof John Gearhart. Since then, he has trained several international and national paediatric urology fellows.
Professor Cervellione was Lead for PGME at Royal Manchester Children’s Hospital until 2018 and he continues to be involved with postgraduate medical education at the University of Manchester, where he holds an honorary clinical chair, and at the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh.
He has published over 70 papers on basic science and clinical research in the main urological and paediatric surgical journals with over 900 citations, wrote four book chapters, and he has presented his work all around the world.
He is a recognised international expert in the treatment of bladder exstrophy, varicocele and hypospadias and has the pleasure and the honour of helping colleagues around the word with the management of these conditions.
Professor Cervellione is an FRCS Urology examiner and a trustee of the British Association of the Paediatric Urologists.
