Another successful ‘Brilliant Basics’ event was held on 25th January, led by Dawn Pike, Director of Nursing and closed by Cheryl Lenney, Chief Nurse. The Our Staff Matter… Caring for You event focused on ensuring staff have the tools they need to look after themselves, to support them to deliver the best patient care.
The event was opened with music played from LIME Arts and included the presentation of a ‘toolkit’ of wellbeing resources including:
- A discussion about the significance and benefits of music in the healthcare environment, which can affect mood, breathing and even a person’s heart rate.
- Highlighting the availability of the Employee Assistance Programme (EAP), which offers free and confidential support covering a wide range of issues, available to MFT employees.
- 5 Ways to Wellbeing; a set of five, evidence based behaviours that are known to increase a sense of wellbeing: Connect, Be Active, Take Notice, Keep Learning and Give.
- The launch of ‘Take a Break’ Campaign, which fundamentally involves everyone’s responsibility to ensure all staff take a break whilst at work. This quarter’s ‘Call to Action’ is for staff to discuss within their teams the importance of taking a break and promote this as a vital component to improve staff well-being and patient safety.
