On Friday, 2 August, colleagues from across MFT came together to celebrate South Asian Heritage Month (SAHM) in a truly vibrant and meaningful way. Our Group Equality, Diversity and Inclusion (EDI) team and the Race Equity Staff Network extend their heartfelt gratitude to everyone who contributed to making this event a remarkable success.
The celebration was a journey through a rich tapestry of South Asian culture and tradition. Each performance and presentation added layers of depth and joy, beautifully showcasing the diversity that defines and enriches our community.
We want to give a special shout-out to all the staff members who, despite their busy clinical schedules, found the time to contribute and participate in this event.
This event was a shining example of how collaboration brings out the best in all of us. The support and involvement of our staff members and leadership teams were instrumental in making the day as impactful as it was.
The event was officially inaugurated by Miss Toli Onon, our Executive Sponsor for Race. We were honoured to have our Chairman, Kathy Cowell, in attendance, lending her support to the occasion. Special thanks to our Chief Executive Officer, Mark Cubbon and Dr. Binita Kane, Respiratory Consultant and the Co-founder of South Asian Heritage Month, for recording the insightful conversation, ensuring that even more people could share in the richness and impact of the event.
The event also featured stalls and stands from various departments, including Rewards and Benefits, MFT Charity, Employee Health and Wellbeing, the Royal College of Nursing and the South Asian Gallery from Manchester Museum. These provided staff with opportunities to explore areas of interest and further their learning.
The connections and lessons from this day will continue to inspire us as we embrace and celebrate the diversity that makes our community so unique.
EDI Team and Race equity Staff network would like to thank our MFT staff once again for your unwavering support in fostering a culture of inclusivity, respect, and understanding for all.
