At MFT, we are committed to improving the experience of all carers, supporting their health and wellbeing and enabling them to continue in their caring roles sustainably.
To mark National Carers Week, we are pleased to share our revised Carers’ Strategy for 2025-2029. The strategy outlines how MFT will achieve a high level of involvement and participation through genuine co-production with patients, families and carers through the following five commitments.
- Identification and Recognition: Document carers properly (both those with carers and those who care)
- Communication: Engage with carers respectfully and accessibly.
- Signposting and Partnership Working: Collaborate with health, social care and third sector services.
- Education: Train staff to work effectively with carers.
- Reasonable adjustments: Adapt to meet carers’ and patients’ individual needs.
The strategy will give patients, families, and carers with lived experience a voice to help support and influence MFT’s work and improve the health and quality of life of our diverse communities.
