Manchester University NHS Foundation Trust has appointed Dr Vin Diwakar, currently national Clinical Transformation Director at NHS England, as Joint Chief Medical Officer (JCMO).

A paediatrician and nationally-recognised medical director with 17 years of experience, Dr Diwakar brings a wealth of expertise as medical director for the NHS in London, at Great Ormond Street Hospital, Birmingham Children’s Hospital, and as National Medical Director for Secondary Care.

Welcoming the appointment, Mark Cubbon, Trust Chief Executive for Manchester University NHS Foundation Trust, commented:

“We are delighted to welcome Dr Vin Diwakar to MFT. Vin’s wealth of experience in national, regional and local leadership roles will be invaluable as we continue to advance patient care and clinical effectiveness for our patients and the diverse communities which we serve.

“Vin’s appointment comes at a pivotal time as we renew our Trust Strategy to ensure we can drive forward the aims of Fit for the Future, the 10 Year Health Plan for England, and our joint working with partners to deliver significant health improvements for our patients and local residents.”
