Graduated from Southampton University 1991. Trained in paediatrics in Hampshire, South Wales, Stoke on Trent and the North West Region. Awarded MD entitled ‘Defining the asthma phenotype: a study of clinical and genetic factors’ at Keele University May 2002. Attained specialist certification in paediatric respiratory medicine in 2002. Appointed Consultant in Paediatric Respiratory Medicine at CMMC in 2002 and lead for the respiratory service in 2006. Since my consultant appointment I have worked with colleagues to develop and run an expanding paediatric respiratory service in Manchester and introduced a new paediatric TB clinic at RMCH. My current activities include CMMC Clinical Lead for Respiratory Paediatrics, CMMC Paediatric Lead for Home Oxygen, CMMC Clinical Governance Lead for Respiratory Paediatrics, CMMC joint Lead for Paediatric Lung Function Service Development, Joint Regional Clinical Lead for Paediatric Tuberculosis, Regional Paediatric Respiratory Training Director. I am based at RMCH where I work 6 sessions per week in a job share partnership with Dr Clare Murray.
