Dr Parr began her medical training at St Catherine’s College, Cambridge, completing her BA in Clinical Psychology prior to moving to Addenbrooke’s Hospital where she qualified as a doctor in 1994. She then soon developed an interest in Paediatrics, moving out of East Anglia to Leeds and becoming increasingly involved in Neonatology.
Dr Parr undertook a Masters in Child Health at the University of Leeds, being involved in research in gut immune function in the preterm infant. She completed her Higher Specialist Training in Neonatology with a short period back in Cambridge at the Rosie Maternity Hospital, before taking up a consultant post in the North West .
Her first consultant post was at South Manchester University Hospital, where she practiced for three years before moving to her current position as a Neonatal Consultant at Saint Mary’s Hospital.
Dr Parr is currently an Honorary Lecturer at Salford University and lead clinician for the Newborn Intensive Care Module. In addition, she has an active role in governance and clinical effectiveness within our unit and the wider Neonatal Network.
