Mr Ali Souéid

Consultant in Burns and Plastic Surgery

Mr Ali Souéid is a full time consultant in Burns and Plastic Surgery. He is also involved at the Manchester Royal Infirmary in post cancer surgery reconstruction and at Wythenshawe Hospital in general Plastic Surgery. He is also heavily involved in education and is the lead for the junior doctors education is his department. Mr Souéid is one of the few pioneering surgeons in Plastic Surgery training in Robotic Surgery.

Qualifications and Training

Dr Souéid qualified with MB BCh LRCPI LRCSI BAO (NUI) from the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland. He then completed his surgical training to become a member of the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh (MRCS) in 2004 and later his plastic surgery training to become a fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons of England (FRCS) in 2014. He is on the specialist register of the General Medical Council in the United Kingdom. In addition he has a Masters degree in Surgical Sciences and Tissue Engineering from University College London, as well as a higher degree in Business Management.

Dr Souéid has worked in numerous major centres for plastic surgery in the UK. He completed a highly specialised fellowship in Reconstructive Trauma surgery at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Birmingham, one of the biggest trauma centres in Europe and is the Royal Centre for Defence Medicine in the UK. In addition, Dr Soueid has completed dedicated trauma, microsurgery, burns and aesthetic fellowships. He has visited or worked in international centres, including China, Brazil and the Middle East, gaining the experience to manage a mixture of ethnic groups.

Having been in plastic surgery practice for more than 10 years, both in adult and paediatric plastic surgery, Dr Souéid’s is trained in all aspects of the speciality. This encompasses vascular anomalies, congenital, acquired and trauma hand surgery, burn resuscitation and reconstruction, lasers, skin oncology, lower limb reconstruction, breast surgery, microvascular surgery and facial trauma.

Awards and Prizes

Dr Souéid was awarded a training fellowship from the Royal National Orthopaedic Hospital. He was also been twice awarded the Hackett Memorial Prize, one the highest prizes awarded by the British Association of Aesthetic Plastic Surgeons.
