Biography

Michael qualified from the University of Lagos, Nigeria in 2003.  He then commenced Surgical training at the Cornwall Regional Hospital, Montego Bay, Jamaica obtaining training in Paediatric, General, Trauma and Orthopaedic Surgery, Urology and ENT. He continued Surgical training in Dublin, Ireland in 2009 and Specialist Paediatric Surgery training in 2011 between Our Lady’s Children’s Hospital Crumlin and The Children’s University Hospital, Temple Street in Dublin.

While in training he obtained a masters in Surgical Sciences from the University of Edinburgh and was awarded distinctions in his certificate and diploma years.

Post completion of his specialist diploma in Paediatric Surgery in 2016, Michael spent a year training in the Lower Gastrointestinal Surgery Unit in Dublin before moving to the United Kingdom to undergo Fellowship training in Paediatric Hepatobiliary, Robotic and Thoracic Surgery at the Leeds Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust from July 2018.

Michael was appointed as a Locum Paediatric Surgeon at the Royal Manchester Children’s Hospital in October 2019.

Michael is a Fellow of the European Board of Paediatric surgeons and the Royal College of Surgeons in Edinburgh and a member of the British Association of Paediatric Endoscopic Surgeons.

He has authored several publications in a wide range of Paediatric Surgical conditions in peer reviewed journals. Michael is fully committed to evidence based practice and dedicated to review of performance to improve outcomes.
