The Paediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) provides care for critically ill children (newborns to 16 year olds) and their families. It is one of the leading centres in the North West and the largest general PICU in the UK.
A wide range of specialist services – including neurosurgery, oncology, cardiology and pharmacy – work with the multidisciplinary team to deliver paediatric intensive care.
There are two research nurses on the critical care team who work with the unit’s consultants to undertake research.
If you are interested in finding out more about clinical research and how you can get involved, please ask a member of your medical team or visit our get involved page.
