Mr Shafqat Bukhari
Consultant NeurosurgeonMr Shafqat Bukhari is a Consultant Neurosurgeon who practices in both Adult and Paediatric Neurosurgery. He completed his higher surgical training in Neurosurgery which included speciality training in Spinal Neurosurgery from the Manchester Deanery. He completed his sub-speciality fellowships in Functional Neurosurgery from University of Toronto, Canada and in Paediatric Neurosurgery from University of British Columbia Vancouver, Canada. Mr Bukhari took up the Consultant Neurosurgeon position at University Hospital of Wales, Cardiff in 2007 and later moved to Manchester in 2012.
Mr Bukhari has a special interest in minimally invasive spinal surgery and artificial disc replacement. He has extensive experience in dealing with a wealth of spinal conditions and regularly performs various neurosurgical and spinal operations including lumbar microdiscectomy, laminectomy, spinal instrumentation, anterior cervical discectomy fusion, and artificial disc replacement, intradural and extradural spinal tumours.
He also regularly performed cranial surgery for brain tumours, hydrocephalus and other common brain conditions.
He has extensive experience in dealing children’s spinal condition and performs complex spinal surgeries including instrumental spinal fusion on Children with complex congenital spinal anomalies. He has particular interest in dealing with Chiari Malformation & Myelomeningocele and Cranio-cervical anomalies, Endoscopic Neurosurgery and Paediatric Brain tumour.
Mr Bukhari is working as a Consultant Neurosurgeon at Salford Royal Hospital and as a Consultant Paediatric Neurosurgeon at Royal Manchester Children Hospital. He is also actively involved in teaching and research.
