Rheumatology conditions affecting children and adolescents include arthritis, lupus, vasculitis and other inflammatory disease. The genetic and environmental factors are often thought to be causal factors, but there still work to be done to gain a better understanding of these conditions, and how best to manage them or prevent them from happening in the first place.
Paediatric and adolescent rheumatology is part of the NIHR Manchester Biomedical Research Centre, a partnership with The University Manchester, curator of the National Biologics register.
