Thoracic Surgeon

MD, PhD, FRCS

I graduated in medicine with honours at the University of Naples, Italy, in 2005, specialising in Thoracic Surgery at the University of Siena, Italy in 2010. I have worked in United Kingdom since October 2010 and became a Fellow of Royal College of Surgeons (FRCS) of London in 2013. I graduated with a PhD in Oncology and Genetics in 2015 at University of Siena, Italy. I have worked as a consultant thoracic surgeon in the United Kingdom since April 2014 and at Manchester University NHS Foundation Trust as a consultant since February 2017.

I have performed over 2000 thoracic surgical procedures and have an interest in minimally invasive surgery (70% of my practice), including VATS lobectomy. Additionally, my interests are in thymic surgery and mediastinal tumours, pulmonary aspergillosis, hyperhidrosis, airway interventions, pneumothorax surgery, and lung volume reduction. I am the Trust Training Specialty Lead for thoracic surgery, Audit and Clinical Governance Deputy Lead, Medical Student Experience Lead and Foundation Programme Educational Supervisor for Manchester University NHS Trust. I hope to further expand my minimally invasive practice in the future with new technologies including robotic surgery, and to continue to expand my research portfolio.
