Open Day Saturday 19th January 10:00 – 13:00

If you are motivated and driven and want to be part of the MFT WTWA team who are dedicated to delivering high quality care to patients and their carers then take some time to read through what we have to offer. We are a multidisciplinary team who work closely together and support each other, whilst providing high quality care to our patients. The roles available in theatres are as follow: Scrub, Anaesthetics & Recovery (Anaesthetics requires post registration qualification)

There are 5 theatre suites across Wythenshawe, Trafford, Withington and Altrincham( WTWA) with a total of 27 operating theatres across the directorate providing a range of specialist surgery. We are an institute that offers all opportunities to develop you in both your career and education.  We strive to provide excellent standards of evidence based care.

Wythenshawe Site:

Main Theatres (F Block)

There are 6 Theatres, undertaking elective surgery including Breast, ENT including major head and neck surgery & ‘Max Fax’, Urology and Gynae surgery with a bit of General surgery, Vascular and Orthopaedics . Shift patterns are generally between the hours of 8am and 9pm with opportunity to undertake some out of hours work. We also cover the maternity suite for anaesthetics so there are great opportunities there to expand your knowledge.

TDC Theatres / Hybrid Theatres

TDC (Treatment and Diagnostic Centre): 3 Theatres. (2 Hybrid Theatres)

TDC Theatres currently house the regional Centre of Excellence for Hand Surgery, breast and tendon reconstruction across Europe. As such, any successful candidate would be working at the forefront of plastic surgical procedures across Greater Manchester. Within the Hybrid theatres we do ground breaking interventional procedures working in collaboration with the vascular interventional team in providing state of the art care for all our patients.

Acute Theatres / Hybrid

There are 7 Theatres, undertaking both elective and non-elective work. We specialise in Trauma & Elective Orthopaedics, Emergencies, colorectal and upper GI Surgery and Vascular open and interventional cases. The department provides the hospital with excellent 24/7 cover for elective and emergency patient care Staff rotate to the vascular hybrid Theatre to perform both elective and non-elective surgery.

Withington Treatment Centre

At this location we have  2 Day case theatres based at Withington Community Hospital; there are no inpatient beds at this community Hospital environment. This department operates Monday- Friday

Trafford Site

There are 9 operating theatres on this site of which 5 are dedicated Orthopaedic theatres and 4 general theatres. We provide adult and paediatric theatre day service. Specialties  include both elective and minor trauma  Orthopaedics, ENT, Urology, Gynaecology, General Surgery and Dental. The Theatre department works Monday- Friday.

Candidates will be given the opportunity to rotate through our 3 theatre suites to gain exposure to the wide range of theatre experiences available within our trust if desired. In return we deliver an excellent supernumerary orientation and induction programme for all our new starters, individually tailored to your current level of knowledge and experience. We provide in-house support for all staff and theatre specific practice based educators (PBE) and a learning and development lead to support you in your development.

Post-holders will also have access to the LEAD Training Programme, a unique and innovative concept to develop skillsets, which brings together all of the education and training activities of the hospital under one umbrella. We have an in-house mentorship programme in place affiliated to a well-known university and CPD courses to aid in your development in your role as a practitioner within the organisation.

Our commitment is further reinforced by our robust Trust Nurse Revalidation Programme – offering an e-portfolio and dedicated individual support for registered nurses.
