Biography

Mr. Romero undertook postgraduate ophthalmic residency training in Madrid – Spain followed by a medical retina and vitreo-retina observership programme by the University Hospital of Zurich – Switzerland while was accredited by the European Board of Ophthalmology (EBO) as fellow of the European Board of Ophthalmology (FEBO).

Subsequently, completed over 3 years of subspecialist training in the UK. Firstly, he undertook a year fellowship programme in medical retina and cataract surgery at Whipps Cross Hospital – Barts Health NHS trust, followed by a two-year fellowship programme at Moorfields Eye Hospital – NHS Foundation Trust based in London.

Although his subspecialist training has compiled medical and surgical experience, including complicated medical retina pathology, uveitis, inherited retinal diseases, clinical trials and complex cataract surgery, he is primarily dedicated to the diagnosis & management of medical retinal pathology including age related macular degeneration, diabetic retinopathy and retinal vascular occlusive disease, as well as cataract surgery.

Mr. Romero was previously Consultant Ophthalmologist at Royal London Hospital – Barts Health NHS trust and, subsequently was appointed Consultant Ophthalmologist at Manchester Royal Eye Hospital in 2022.
