Appointment of 11 new consultants in obstetrics and gynaecology.
11 Consultant Obstetricians and Gynaecologists have been recruited to the Saint Mary’s Hospital clinical team in recent months. These new posts are based across St Mary’s Hospital, Wythenshawe Hospital and North Manchester General Hospital. The posts were advertised jointly with North Manchester General Hospital to support recruitment there.
The 11 consultant posts will enable some specialist services to be extended across all three hospitals, ensuring equity of access to these services for women across Manchester; providing specialist ‘care closer to home’ and streamlining the referral pathways.
Dr Sarah Vause, Medical Director of Saint Mary’s Hospital, said: ‘Candidates were attracted by the breadth of roles available, the professional development opportunities we offer as such a large Trust, and our popular Consultant Development Programme.’
Recruitment to Consultant posts across other medical specialities is now underway which will also benefit services at North Manchester General Hospital.
