Chairman opens new MRI Endoscopy Unit

Trust Chairman Kathy Cowell marked the official opening of the new MRI Endoscopy Unit yesterday following major refurbishment.  The unit has been completely transformed to provide much improved facilities for patients and staff and full compliance with the latest best practice guidelines.

New facilities include dedicated single sex pre-assessment and recovery areas plus a discharge area to enhance the privacy and dignity of patients.  State-of-the-art decontamination facilities enable improved turnaround times for the processing of endoscopes across the MRI.  Patient flow through the unit is also much improved.

The Chairman described it as being an ‘amazing facility’.  It is now thought to be one of the best endoscopy environments in the country.
