Biography

Dr Barnes delivers individualised, patient-centred, safe anaesthesia and analgesia to the local population of Trafford. He anaesthetises for the Orthopaedic Surgeons, Paediatric ENT Surgeons and Paediatric Dental Service. On a regular rota, he is in charge of the Critical Care Service and Outreach Services to Trafford General Hospital. Dr Barnes is keen to promote GPs’ awareness of the role of anaesthesia in their patients’ journey through their care pathway and potentially to run clinics in GP surgeries. A qualified APLS & EPLS instructor, he regularly runs Paediatric Immediate Life Support courses at Trafford General Hospital with Mike Richardson (Resuscitation Officer), which our GP colleagues would be very welcome to attend. Recently, the Acute Illness Management course has also been restarted. In January 2012 he became Clinical Lead at the Greater Manchester Critical Care Skills Institute, with a responsibility for education and redesign and relaunch of AIMS course.
