Biography

Dr Longbottom has been a consultant anaesthetist and intensivist at Trafford General since 1985 and has held many roles in the department including college tutor, clinical director and clinical lead for intensive care. Dr Longbottom has always promoted the care of the acutely ill patient, both on the ward and the intensive care unit. He provides anaesthetic services for all specialties at Trafford General but in particular has been the lead paediatric anaesthetist. Overseeing the nurse-led anaesthetic assessment clinic, Dr Longbottom currently also holds a fortnightly anaesthetic assessment clinic for patients who have significant concerns or are at high risk of perioperative complications from co-morbid conditions to advise them on the benefits and risks of proceeding. with surgery.
