Biography
Mr Ioannis Dimarakis was appointed Consultant Cardiac and Cardiothoracic Transplant Surgeon at Wythenshawe Hospital in 2016. He also holds an Honorary Senior Lecturer post with the University of Manchester. He received his Medical Degree in 1998 from the University of Athens, and his PhD in 2008 from Imperial College London. He has trained in several institutions including the Hammersmith and the Royal Brompton Hospital in London.
His research interests span from basic science to surgical database analysis. Stemming from his doctorate work investigating the regenerative potential of stem cell therapy in ischaemic heart disease, he maintains an active research interest in all aspects of regenerative medicine in heart disease.
