Biography

I was born in Thessaloniki, Greece and I obtained my Medical Degree from the University Ovidius in Constanta, Romania in 2002. I completed my general surgical training in Greece in 2011 and worked as a consultant in Greece for two years before moving to the UK in 2013. I have been focused in breast surgery since 2010 when I completed my oncoplastic training in Paris, France – Institute Gustave Russy.Since 2013 I have been working in the NHS from different positions as a breast surgeon.During all my studies I have developed a special interest in healthcare ethics, which resulted in a Master of Arts degree on Ethics and the Law from the University of Manchester in 2011.

I have gradually developed a passion for transgender healthcare and surgery serving as a specialist surgeon at North Manchester General Hospital (NMGH) since 2017 and I am currently leading its chest contouring (gender affirmation surgery) service.

I am continuously expanding my knowledge on transgender healthcare by participating regularly in national and international conferences and workshops.I am a member of WPATH, BAGIS, AoME and CMI.

I have been honoured to have been named doctor of the year at NMGH in 2019 and appointed as chair of its clinical ethics committee in 2020.I am due to complete my MBA studies in 2021 at the University of Manchester with my thesis focusing in improving trans surgery top surgery provision in the UK.

Outside my passion for providing excellent care for transgender individuals I enjoy reading poetry, playing the piano and travelling.
