Biography
Mr Ismail became Clinical Head of Division for Trafford Hospitals in April 2014. He joined Trafford as a Consultant in 1999 after completing his specialist training in Orthopaedics and Trauma in the Edinburgh orthopaedic training programme. He has visited centres of excellence in orthopaedic surgery in the US and Europe to learn new techniques. Mr Ismail specialises in all aspects of knee surgery including sports injuries. Areas of his particular clinical and research interest are arthroscopic surgery, anterior cruciate ligament reconstruction, multiple knee ligament injuries, osteotomies, unicompartmental knee replacements, complex knee replacements (including correction of severe deformities) and revision knee replacement. He is also experienced in hip surgery consisting of primary and revision hip replacements and hip arthroscopic surgery. Mr Ismail is presently involved in promoting short-stay hip and knee replacements by minimally-invasive surgery and new techniques of pain control and rehabilitation. Secretary: 0161 746 2391
