Biography
Mr de’ Liguori-Carino completed his surgical training in 2005 at University of Rome, Italy, with a period spent at the Ohio University Hospital, Columbus, USA. He spent 4 years specialising in HPB and transplant surgery at the University of Liverpool and Leeds before being appointed Consultant in Manchester in 2009.
de’ Liguori Carino has extensive experience in HPB surgery having performed an excess of 600 among liver and pancreatic resections. His fields of interests are in advanced laparoscopic surgery for malignant and benign disease of the liver, pancreas and biliary system including gallbladder. He has also an interest in Irreversible Electroporation (IRE) for pancreatic cancer for which he has given a major contribute to establish this technique in the UK. His Unit is currently one of the very few offering this service in the UK.
His commitment to research has been constant over the years with a special interest in Geriatric Surgical Oncology in patients with hepatobiliary and pancreatic malignancy. Has been and currently is Principal Investigator for multicentre international studies in this field. He is authors of many scientific papers published on international journals and authors of medical books.
He is the Cancer Lead for the Hepatobiliary and Pancreatic Unit at Manchester Royal Infirmary, University of Manchester.
Member of the IHPBA (International Hepatobiliary and Pancreatic Association), AUGIS/GBIHPBA (Association Upper GI Surgeons/Great Britain and Ireland Hepatobiliary and Pancreatic Association), ESSO (European Society of Surgical Oncology), BASO (British Society of Surgical Oncology) and SIOG (International Society of Geriatric Oncology).
