What Is Interprofessional Learning Experience (IPE)? Defintion: Interprofessional Learning Experience (IPE) is key in the education of healthcare practitioners in order to provide high standards of care to patients and service users.

According to CAIPE (2002) “Interprofessional Education occurs when two or more professions learn with, from and about each other to improve collaboration and the quality of care.”

An Inter-professional tool to understand the patient pathway (Journey through health and social care)

This tool is designed to gain an insight into the different services and professions involved in patient/Client care. It aims to identify services/professions involved in the care of patients looked after in their placement area. By gaining experience of these services/professions will  aid greater understanding of holistic care, the importance of communication and  recognition of how local and national initiatives impact on the individual patient/Client journey.
