Who is the service for?
This service is for all patients either referred in by their GP or seen as an emergency with conditions or diseases that may affect the mouth, jaws, face, and neck. This service will see both adult and paediatric patients.
What does the service provide?
The scope of this specialty is extensive and includes the treatment of facial injuries, head and neck cancers, salivary gland diseases, facial disproportion, facial pain, temporo-mandibular joint disorders, impacted teeth, cysts and tumours of the jaws, surgical dermatology, as well as numerous problems affecting the oral mucosa.
These services are supported by consultant led Orthodontic and Restorative Dentistry services and providing joint clinics and treatment where needed.
These treatments are provided as an in-patient or day-case and are undertaken under local or general anaesthetic or conscious sedation.

When is the service available?
The Oral surgery service is available 7 days a week for all emergency referrals and Monday to Friday for non-emergency out-patient referrals from your GP.
Where is the service provided?
Day surgery is carried out at Fairfield general and Rochdale infirmary with in-patient work being undertaken at North Manchester. Out-patients are seen at Oldham, Rochdale, Fairfield and North Manchester. Restorative Dentistry services are provided at Oldham and North Manchester. Orthodontic services are provided at North Manchester and Fairfield General.
