Occupational Therapy (NMGH)

Introduction

The therapy team at NMGH consists of Occupational Therapists and Occupational Therapy assistants. We assess patients on the ward, assessing patients functional ability. We complete assessments of activities of daily living including washing and dressing and kitchen assessments. We also assess for any equipment needs and any support required on discharge. We also work closely with the physiotherapy team and other members of the MDT We also refer to community teams for follow up assessments at home.

Services Offered

The Occupational Therapy team at NMGH cover a range of specialities including: Orthopaedics, Surgery, Acute Medicine, Critical Care, Rheumatology, Medical Assessment Unit and a short term rehab unit, called the Frailty Unit.

Referral Information

Staff either screen patients that need assessment or are referred to the staff through the MDT.

We are a friendly team of Occupational Therapy staff and are warm and welcoming to all new staff and provide new starters with a comprehensive induction and training plan and monthly supervisions and yearly appraisals.
