Young Parents’ Specialist Clinic

Young parent’s will be signposted or offered referral to partnership agencies in order to provide information and support around housing, benefits, education and employment, mental health, domestic abuse, drug and alcohol misuse, sexual health and contraception. There are also young Dad’s services available in Manchester and the Salford area.

The young parent’s specialist Midwives work closely with the health visiting service, family nurse partnership (not available in all areas) and careers connect.

Clinics & Locations

Antenatal booking appointments are offered at Saint Mary’s Hospital, Saint Mary’s at Salford antenatal clinic or at home. Flexible appointment times are offered Monday – Friday.

Follow up clinic at Saint Mary’s antenatal clinic :

Monday’s (excluding bank holidays) 1.30 pm – 5.00 pm.

Careers connect service run a drop in service alongside this clinic to offer support around benefits, education, employment & housing.

Parent education for young parents :

Two hour session held once a month on a Saturday 1.00 pm – 3.00 pm.

The session covers labour, pain relief, delivery, labour ward tour, baby care and safety.

Follow up clinic at Saint Mary’s at Salford antenatal clinic :

Friday’s 1.30 pm – 4.30 pm.

How can I access the clinic?

Young women can self refer to the service by telephone. Alternatively referrals can be taken from GP’s, community midwives, school nurses, Brook, social workers, etc.
