Work begins to bring Imaging services to North Manchester CDC

Manchester University NHS Foundation Trust (MFT) is continuing to develop its North Manchester Community Diagnostic Centre (CDC) – with work now underway on a new, purpose-built Imaging Unit.

The North Manchester CDC first opened its doors in April 2024, with the first phase providing convenient access to cardiology, respiratory, and ophthalmology services within the North City Family and Fitness Centre.

Now, the project moves into its final phase with work beginning on a dedicated Imaging Unit, designed to provide a range of scans in a cutting-edge facility.

This phase of the development will see the introduction of state-of-the-art diagnostic equipment, including a CT scanner, and an MR scanner to serve the local community and bring vital services closer to North Manchester residents.

Once operational, residents will be able to access advanced imaging scans without needing to travel to MFT’s major hospital sites such as North Manchester General Hospital or Manchester Royal Infirmary.

Work is due to be complete in 2025, and once fully operational, the North Manchester CDC is expected to provide up to 41,000 diagnostic tests annually, whilst reducing waiting times and offering flexible appointment options.

MFT would like to thank GLL and Asda for their support throughout the project.
