The BTBC initiative aims to enhance training quality and patient care by designating specific operating lists or clinics that are trainee led and consultant supervised.
BTBC brings together educational leaders, consultants, resident doctors, administrators, anaesthetists, theatre staff to collaboratively enhance training.
BTBC has successfully delivered 110 operating lists across a range of specialties, including General Surgery, Plastics, Orthopaedics, Gynaecology, Urology and Breast Surgery. This approach ensures that trainees gain hands-on experience under the guidance of senior clinicians, promoting confidence and competence within the resident doctor workforce.
