Congratulations to everyone who took part in this years Great Manchester Run. This was a very special event for MFT, with more than 370 NHS staff from across all our hospitals and services taking part together as ‘Team MFT’.
We would also like to especially thank our army of supporters who helped by cheering our runners every step of the way. The grand total is yet to be finalised, with sponsorship still coming through for our Manchester Foundation Trust Charity.
Clare Docherty, Midwifery Ward Manager on the Enhanced Recovery Bay, tells her story on why she took part in this years run:
“I was inspired to take part in the Great Manchester run with my colleagues to raise money for our Rainbow Rooms, in which care is provided for families suffering a bereavement. As a professional you want to do all you can to make the experience a little more bearable for families, hence why we chose to raise money for this valuable resource. Although it was super-hot on the day, the atmosphere was electric. I was nervous before the race but also excited to be involved in something so big. The 22 degrees of sunshine made the run tough but we were all encouraged by all the masses of lovely people lining the course and cheering us on. People really are fantastic and the crowds spurred me on to the finish line. It really was the best day.”
