Alison Haughton

Board member
I started my career in the NHS in 1986 when I began my nurse training at the Blackburn, Hyndburn and Ribble Valley School of Nursing and qualifying as a Registered General Nurse in 1989 is one of my proudest achievements.
On commencing my career as a Registered Nurse, I worked at South Manchester NHS FT in Cardiothoracic theatres as an Anaesthetic and Recovery Nurse and also undertaking scrub duties.
During my career I have worked as a Senior Nurse in a number of clinical areas, such as Operating Theatres, Surgery, Fertility services and Medicine in Acute Trusts, including Wigan Wrightington and Leigh NHS Trust, East Lancashire NHS Trust and Lancashire Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust.
I have also undertaken a number of senior management posts in large Acute Trusts, working as a General Manager in Theatres, Anaesthetics, Critical Care and Endoscopy and as a Divisional Director in both specialised services and more latterly Surgery.
These varied experiences have contributed significantly to my breadth of knowledge.
I am an advocate of compassionate leadership and supporting others to reach their potential. I have undertaken a variety of clinical training opportunities, completed a BSc in Nursing and post graduate study and have undertaken a number of leadership development programmes with the NHS Leadership Academy.
