Biography:
Dr Clancy trained in Manchester and joined the department in 1990. Her main clinical and research interests are cancer genetics and ethical, legal and psychosocial issues in genetics. Tara organises and facilitates cancer genetics training for medical and non-medical genetic counsellors and for professionals and students in other clinical specialities. She is also an HTA accredited Independent Assessor for living organ donation. She is on the programme committee for the MSc in Clinical Science (Genomic Counselling), teaches on the MSc in Genomic Medicine and is an MSc and PhD research supervisor. Tara is a member of the Nuffield Council on Bioethics and is on the Steering Group of the UK’s Genethics Club and the Steering group of the UK Fetal Genomics Group. She is past Chair of a University of Manchester’s Research Ethics Committee and of the European Meeting on Psychosocial Aspects of Genetics (EMPAG).
