As shared last week, we are very proud that a total of 13 Manchester University NHS Foundation Trust (MFT) staff members have been shortlisted for an award at this year’s National BAME (Black, Asian and Minority Ethnic) Health and Care Awards – which is the highest number of shortlisted nominations for any Trust in the country.
The awards celebrate the progress made in supporting BAME staff, who thrive in healthcare organisations. The winners and those highly recommended are to be announced across four virtual events, taking place from April 15th – May 6th, 2021. The first ceremony took place last Thursday, 15th April, which was hosted by DiversityQ’s Editor, Cheryl Cole.
MFT is delighted to announce one winner and two highly commended colleagues from last week’s award ceremony.
A huge congratulations to winners, Nour Moterek and Hafsa Atique-Ur-Rehman from the Pharmacy Team (CSS), who were named winners in the Workforce Innovator of the Year category.
In reaction to their win, the pair said they hoped the awards would inspire other healthcare workers to “continue to do the meaningful work they are doing.”
Another special well done to Bindu Kurien, from the Manchester Royal Infirmary (MRI), who was Highly Commended in the Workforce Innovator of the Year category.
Gayathri Subramanian, from Royal Manchester Children’s Hospital (RMCH), also receives a commendation, as she was Highly Commended in the Health and Wellbeing Advocate of the Year category.
In tonight’s virtual ceremony, those shortlisted colleagues in the following categories at MFT include:
- Ground-breaking Researcher: Indi Banerjee and Sharmila Gopisetti, Royal Manchester Children’s Hospital.
- Clinical Champion: Nasaim (Naz) Khan, Saint Mary’s Hospital.
We would encourage colleagues to continue in their support of the awards, with the second ceremony taking place today, Thursday, April 22nd at 5pm. To virtually attend, please click here.
