Apprenticeships at MFT
MFT is an approved Employer Provider of Apprenticeship training programmes and is on the Register of Apprenticeship Training Providers (RoATP).

That’s why MFT offers Apprenticeships to everybody – from school leavers taking their first steps into the health service, through to existing members of staff who want to enhance their prospects and enhance their career opportunities.
Apprenticeships are a great way to develop your career by enrolling on an accredited apprenticeship programme that is closely aligned to your current role, offering you the opportunity to develop your skills, knowledge and behaviours and achieve a nationally recognised Apprenticeship Qualification.
What does an Apprenticeship entail?
An Apprenticeship is a work-based qualification. It is made up of three elements: Knowledge, Skills and Behaviours – that learners will need to demonstrate in order to achieve the Apprenticeship qualification, known as the ‘Standard’.
MFT delivers a range of internally delivered Apprenticeships to our own staff, including Business Administration, Team Leading and Healthcare Support Apprenticeship Programmes.
MFT also works with a wide range of external Apprenticeship Learning providers across the region to procure a huge variety of Apprenticeship programmes for all staff, including Facilities, Finance and Procurement, Health Sciences, Leadership and Management, HR, Pharmacy, and ICT to name a few.

Complete Functional Skills in Maths and English if needed.

Benefits for Managers
Apprenticeships are a great way to develop your staff by supporting them to enrol on an accredited apprenticeship programme that is closely aligned to their current role, offering your staff the opportunity to achieve a nationally recognised qualification and offering you the opportunity to develop the skills, knowledge and behaviours within your team. ‘Off the Job’ Training
To help you gain these qualifications, you’ll have full support from your Line Manager and the Apprenticeship teams, with 20% of your working time given for ‘Off-the-Job’ Training in certain roles. Some are workplace-based delivery, others require attendance at College or University, but all are completed alongside your role, as part of your weekly working hours.
Apprenticeships generally take between 12- 36 months to complete, depending on their level. You’ll be supported throughout by an assessor and attend a combination of workshops, 1-to-1s, distance learning and self-led learning sessions.
Boosting your Maths and English
MFT understands everyone needs different types of support to reach their full potential. Functional Skills are the fundamental English, Maths and ICT Skills, that people need for their working and personal lives. You can study for the qualifications in practical ways and apply core skills to real life situations.
For individuals that hold or have achieved a GCSE A*-C or Level 2 or above there is no requirement to undertake further Maths or English qualifications to meet the condition of funding.
Functional Skills Qualifications are an equivalent to English and Maths GCSEs and are widely accepted as entry criteria to a range of Apprenticeship programmes including those at degree level and the Level 2 programmes. Functional Skills Qualifications are delivered in collaboration with Manchester Adult Education.
