Sometimes we need to undertake further investigations or monitoring and will ask you to attend an Antenatal Assessment Unit (AAU), either at Saint Mary’s Hospital, Oxford Road Campus, Saint Mary’s @ Wythenshawe (called the Day Care Unit) or at our satellite site in Salford.
These units are staffed by experienced midwives. If you are asked to attend an assessment unit, please attend promptly and be aware that the assessment may take several hours.
The midwives working on AAU provide care in a relaxed environment and are able to provide additional monitoring if needed. They work closely with the obstetric team to allow you to receive care without admission to a hospital ward.
