Public Governor (Rest of Greater Manchester)
Public Governor for Rest of Greater Manchester
As Chair of Radio Lollipop, I lead a team of volunteers for the Charity who provide fun, entertainment and play resources to children at Royal Manchester Children’s Hospital. Being in the hospital each week, I see the impact that high quality, patient-centric care has on patient wellbeing and their health.
In addition to the voluntary work I undertake in the hospital, I also work full-time as a Risk Management professional, leading this activity at a senior level for the organisation in which I work. I offer expertise on how to effectively manage the risks an organisation faces, ensuring that learnings are taken from issues with effective root cause analysis and subsequent actions to improve. I believe that this experience and skillset will is highly beneficial in the role of Governor to understand how a Trust as vast as MFT can ensure the risk of patient harm is reduced to a minimum, ensuring that all staff understand the role they can play. As Governors, we should provide constructive challenge to the Senior Management of the hospital, but also a solution-based approach to allow challenges to be overcome in the interests of improvement and patient safety.
As a Governor, I would look to ensure patient safety is the key priority for the Trust, promoting a patient-centric culture and proactively giving patients and family members a voice that is heard to help improve care not only their own experiences but for all other patients.
