Clinical advice is available at all times from the Duty Biochemist during routine working hours or the Consultant on-call out of hours. The Duty Biochemist is one of the Clinical Scientists or Medical Staff who can assist and advise on queries involving the use and selection of biochemistry tests for the investigation of patients and the interpretation of test results.
Adult Duty Biochemist
The Adult Duty Biochemist can be reached on ext 18891 during routine working hours (Monday to Friday, 9am-5pm).
Outside of these of hours, one of the Consultant staff is available via the Trust switchboard (0161 27 61234). Please ask for the Adult Consultant on-call.
Non-urgent enquiries from within the Trust can be emailed to the Adult Duty Biochemist on dutybiochemist.orc@mft.nhs.uk
For non-urgent enquiries from outside the Trust and which contain patient-identifiable and/or -sensitive information please use our NHSmail account: mft.dutybiochemistenquiries-cmft@nhs.net
Paediatric Duty Biochemist
The Paediatric Duty Biochemist can be phoned on 0161 70 12255 during routine working hours (Monday to Friday, 9am-5pm). Voicemail is available. After 5pm, the paediatric core lab can be ‘bleeped’ on 2001.
Outside of these of hours, one of the Consultant staff is available via the Trust switchboard (0161 27 61234). Please ask for the Paediatric Consultant on-call.
There are two email addresses to which non-urgent enquiries can be directed:

- mft.dutybiochemistenquiries-cmft@nhs.net (please use this address if your enquiry contains patient-identifiable and/or -sensitive information and you are based outside the Trust)
