Sending an urgent sample to us

For urgent samples within normal working hours (until 5.30pm) you might be able to organise a one-off collection by our courier. Call our Business Support Team on 0161 276 4062 or 0161 276 8011 to find out if this is possible. Otherwise, you will need to arrange your own transport.

  • Samples should be packaged in a sample bag and an appropriate secondary container, with the delivery address clearly displayed
  • Tell the laboratory that the sample is on its way by calling our Business Support Team and providing all relevant information (PID, tests requested, your contact number if you want the analyst to call you with the result)
  • Samples should be delivered to Central Specimen Reception, in the Clinical Sciences Centre

Out-of-hours

For urgent samples sent out-of-hours, let the laboratory know about its arrival by calling the switchboard on 0161 276 1234. Ask to speak to the on-call laboratory biomedical scientist for the appropriate laboratory department and remember to leave your contact details if you want the analyst to call you with the result.
