Freedom to Speak Up (FTSU) provides a safe and confidential route for colleagues to raise concerns when something does not feel right. We encourage colleagues, volunteers, students, contractors and anyone working at our sites to Speak Up about issues that may affect patient safety, the quality of care, staff experience or the working environment.
Speaking Up helps us learn, improve and deliver the best possible care for our patients, while making MFT a great place to work for everyone.
You do not need proof of a concern before Speaking Up, and concerns can be raised whether they affect you personally or others around you.
Our Freedom to Speak Up Guardians offer confidential, impartial support and guidance to anyone who is thinking about raising a concern. Guardians can help you explore the options available, understand the most appropriate way to raise an issue, and support you throughout the process while protecting your confidentiality.
Any MFT colleague, volunteer, student, or anyone working at our Trust can contact the Freedom to Speak Up team at ftsuguardian@mft.nhs.uk.
This email account is accessed only by the three MFT Freedom to Speak Up Guardians. Details of your Guardians and the wider FTSU Champion network can be found by searching ‘FTSU’ on the staff intranet or People Place.
