HEE/NIHR Integrated Clinical Academic Internship Programme

These research internships offer a single £7000 payment that can be used for backfill and
£1000 to cover institutional costs for supervision and mentorship. The internship offers 30 days academic research experience, career support and participation in a six day residential education programme.

BRC Clinical Placements in Experimental Medicine

Offers NMAHPs the chance to experience what research is like through short, flexible 6 week taster placements; and also offering employers backfill funding.

NIHR Applied Research Collaboration Greater Manchester (ARC-GM) Research Internship Programme

ARC-GM offers 30 days (or 225 hours) of supervised research support, to be used flexibly over 12 months, a dedicated training budget to undertake a Masters level research module and career support. Please note that these internships do not fund backfill.

Versus Arthritis Nurse and allied health professional internship scheme

This internship scheme is open to recent graduates (within 5 years) or a final year student in an AHP profession (HCPC registerable) or Nursing with either a predicted or a first or 2:1 degree. Applicants must also have an interest in clinical research into the impact of rheumatic and musculoskeletal conditions.

Internships are unpaid but each intern will receive £1000 towards costs. Costs are also available to cover accommodation and travel to site visits at the participating Universities.

There are eight placements available per year to be hosted at one of seven Universities:

  • Keele University
  • Glasgow Caledonian University
  • University of Leeds
  • University of Southampton
  • University of Salford
  • University of Oxford
  • University of the West of England
