The Board

Kimberley Salmon-Jamieson is Deputy Trust Chief Executive and Chief Nursing Officer at Manchester University NHS Foundation Trust. She is an experienced executive nursing and midwifery leader with more than 35 years’ NHS experience and substantial Board-level experience across large and complex provider organisations. She is also Visiting Professor at Manchester Metropolitan University.

Kimberley qualified as an adult nurse in 1994 and began her career in women’s and children’s services in Salford Hospital. After completing her MSc at the University of Liverpool, she practised as an Advanced Clinical Practitioner before moving into general management in 2005. She has since held senior nursing, clinical and operational leadership roles, including Deputy Chief Executive and Chief Nursing Officer at North Cheshire & Mersey Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust.

In her Deputy Trust Chief Executive role, Kimberley supports the Trust Chief Executive Officer and works with Clinical Group Chief Executives to strengthen delivery, performance, transformation and quality across the Trust.

As Chief Nursing Officer, Kimberley provides executive leadership for nursing, midwifery and allied health professional standards across MFT. Her portfolio includes professional matters and workforce, quality and safety, patient experience, safeguarding, clinical governance, quality improvement and infection prevention and control.

She has led work to strengthen professional leadership capability and culture, including developing the award-winning Your Future, Your Way leadership programme. Her leadership reflects a strong commitment to belonging, professional development and high-quality, compassionate care.

Nationally, Kimberley contributes to professional leadership through advisory roles with the Chief Nursing Officer for England, the Nursing and Midwifery Council, and is the Deputy Chair of the Shelford Chief Nurses Group.

Kimberley has completed the prestigious Yale Health and Social Care Strategic Leadership Programme and is a Council Member of Youth Leads UK’s Strategic Advisory Council.
