Sarah Jones
Staff Governor for Nursing and Midwifery
As a newly appointed staff governor my aims are to represent and amplify the voices of colleagues in all professions, the members and the wider MFT community. As a midwife with nearly 17 years of experience in both clinical and leadership roles, I understand the daily challenges we face delivering safe, compassionate care and services whilst navigating increasing demands on our time, wellbeing, and resources to provide excellent healthcare. In my current role as Lead Midwife, I support staff across disciplines and services. My previous experience as a non-executive director in a trade union role has strengthened my ability to hold executives to account constructively, build collaborative relationships, and ensure strategic decisions reflect the needs of staff and service users. I have represented staff in formal forums and spoken at national events, consistently advocating for improved working conditions, inclusive leadership, and quality of care. I can champion the voice of nursing and midwifery collaboratively. If elected, I will ensure that the diverse voices of our workforce are not only heard but also actively influence Trust decisions. I am committed to upholding MFT’s values of compassion, curiosity, inclusion, collaboration, and honesty and will bring fairness, integrity, and a strong sense of accountability to the role. I promise to be visible, approachable, and proactive. I will listen with purpose and speak up with clarity and conviction. My goal is to help shape a workplace where every staff member feels valued, supported, and empowered to deliver the very best care they can.
