Luke Carine
Staff Governor for Other Clinical
As a newly appointed Staff Governor I aim to represent the views of my colleagues and contribute to the continued success of our Trust. I have worked for the past ten years within Manchester Royal Eye Hospital, as an Advanced Ophthalmic Science Practitioner and have developed a strong understanding of both the challenges we face and the values that underpin the exceptional care we provide, all skills that are transferable to my role as staff governor.
Throughout my career, I have been dedicated to delivering the highest standards of patient care while also supporting my colleagues in achieving their best. My role has given me the opportunity to work across services and alongside a wide range of staff, which has provided me with insight into the pressures we face, and the importance of being heard and valued.
My main aims as a staff governor will be, ensuring the voices of staff are heard, particularly those working in clinical and scientific roles who may not always feel represented, being committed to promoting staff wellbeing, fairness, and transparency in how decisions are made. Supporting, empowering and respecting our staff so, they can put the needs of their patients first. I also like to build strong connections with colleagues, to represent their views honestly, and seek assurances from the Board that our concerns and ideas are taken seriously.
